The western shores he longed for

The Earls of York in terror
Sent forth their Saxon horde
Outside the walls of Jórvik
Challenged Hell with shield and sword
Position weakly chosen
With their backs against the Marsh
Harald's ground stood higher
The Norse attack was swift and harsh

Retreat was not an option
And defeat was high in thought
But a ray of light appeared
As backwards the Norse were fought
Alas the clouds got darker
And the Sun utterly spent
For new troops of Viking power
To the gates they made descent

The Norse shield, strong and mighty
Tried to break but no avail
Obliterated were the Saxons
By the Lords of Axe and Ale
And forever it shall be written
Until Hel consumes us all
How the Pagan sons of Odin
Reigned on Britain with Axe and Maul
