To the west the Norse set sail
To where Odin's spear was pointing
Across the waves and mighty gale
Through the fog thus land appeared
The Britons' soil will stain
With their Christian native's blood
Time for loot and Viking reign

On the island named Icolmkill
The Northmen set their feet
With a monastery on its hilltops
For their false god of deceit
The Abbey's bell resounded
For its monks it was a knell
That the abyss spat its offspring
From the deepest depths of Hell

Its wooden doors were shattered
And blood quenched the Nordic swords
The relics of the monastery
Now bound to Scandinavian Fjords
Their god needed not riches
As on the cross he did bleed
Hence the raiders freed the monks
Of the gold that defied their creed

Few survived the nightmare
To their kinland they did flee
And told the gruesome chronicle
Of the Scandinavian killing spree

To dreadful flames yielded coin and greed
The cross did not listen to the friars' need
In smoke and ashes descended to their doom
Of this brutal foray...that from the seas it loomed!
