Before light of dawn through the mists of morn
Longships sailed the river with sound of the horn
Upwards through the Liffey to an unknown forlorn land
To tame its feral soils with the Nordic iron hand

And at the banks of Dark Pool
Set foot on Irish earth
Camped and marched on northwards
To explore the island's worth
So thus came to a simple village
For coin, for food and slaves
But at sight of the Northmen
All did flee down to the caves

The caves were renowned to be portal down to Hell
But the Northmen were more feared than the sound of Hekate's Bell
The northern iron fist reached down the darkened cave
Set fire to its mouth and doomed the Irish to their grave

In vain they fled the Northmen
In vain entered Hell for refuge
As not even Satan's demons
Could hold off the Nordic deluge

Piercing cries of infants as their mothers raped and slain
Their men carried to sea to the northern Viking reign
Still the voices of the dead ones in the darkness of the cave
From the banks of the Dark Pool they haunt the mighty and the brave
